Two old addresses were splitting the Maps ranking

Example: an electric gate company had moved twice, and dozens of directories still showed old addresses and an old phone number. Google couldn't tell which listing was real. We cleaned up 37 listings, merged duplicates, added the company to its suppliers' dealer pages and a local trade association. Its Maps position improved across its main towns.

How local links and citations work

Google trusts businesses other people mention.

For local rankings, Google looks at whether your business details are consistent across the web and whether real local and industry sites link to you. Three kinds of mentions do most of the work.

01

Structured citations

Listings on directories like Bing, Apple Maps, Yelp, BBB, Angi and Nextdoor. Wrong or duplicate listings confuse Google about where you are and what number to show.

What we do: a full citation audit, cleanup of wrong and duplicate listings, then the core directories built out properly.

02

Supplier and industry links

Manufacturer dealer locators, distributor pages, licensing boards and trade associations are some of the most trusted links a contractor can get.

What we do: a list of every supplier, brand and association you work with, and a request to each one for a listing and link.

03

Local community links

Sponsorships, chambers of commerce, local news, schools and community groups show Google you're a real part of the area you serve.

What we do: a short list of local opportunities that fit your budget and time, with the outreach handled for you.

What's included

Listings and links, done right.

We start with what's already out there, fix it, then build new listings and links each month, and report every one.

Do's and don'ts

What hurts and what helps.

Most link and citation problems come from shortcuts or from nobody keeping track. These are the ones we see most.

The problem

Hundreds of cheap directory links bought in one go, many on spammy sites.

Our fix

Fewer, real listings and links that make sense for a local contractor.

The problem

Old addresses, phone numbers or business names still live on dozens of sites.

Our fix

A cleanup of every listing so the details match your Google profile exactly.

The problem

Suppliers and associations you already belong to never list or link to you.

Our fix

A request to each one, often the easiest and strongest links you can get.

The problem

Nobody knows which listings exist or who has the logins.

Our fix

A log of every listing and link, with logins kept in your name.

How we measure success

Four numbers. Every month.

We track listings fixed and built, new links and their source, and how your Google Maps position changes across your service area. You get a monthly summary and a live log of every listing and link.

☎

Calls

Tracked numbers on your site, profile and ads, with source, duration and recordings, so you can see which calls became jobs.

✉

Forms

Every quote request and booking form, tagged by the page and the search that brought it in.

⌖

Map rank per area

A grid of ranking points across your service area, so you see the towns where you win and the ones still missing.

$

Cost per lead

What you spend divided by real leads, by channel. The number that tells you where the next dollar goes.

Questions

Links and citations questions.

Something else on your mind? Send a message and we'll reply within one business day.

What is a citation?

A citation is any online mention of your business name, address and phone number, usually on a directory like Yelp, BBB or Apple Maps. Consistent citations help Google trust your business details and show you on Maps.

What's the difference between structured and unstructured citations?

Structured citations are directory listings with set fields for name, address and phone. Unstructured citations are mentions in articles, blogs or news stories. Both help, and good local links often come with an unstructured citation.

Can bad links hurt my site?

Links bought from spammy networks can lead Google to ignore your links or, in bad cases, take manual action. We don't buy links. Every link we build is one a real local business would earn.

Do I still need citations if I have a Google Business Profile?

Yes. Google checks your details against other sources. Wrong or duplicate listings elsewhere can confuse it, and other maps and AI tools read those directories too.

Can I build citations myself?

You can, and we'll share a list. The hard parts are finding and fixing the old and duplicate listings, and keeping logins and details organized over time.

How quickly will I see results?

Cleanup changes can show up in Maps within a few weeks. New links and listings usually build over two to four months.

Do you use private blog networks or paid links?

No. We avoid anything that breaks Google's guidelines. Our links come from suppliers, associations, local organizations and real directories.
